Simple Golf Swing Tips For Better Scoring
Golf can get frustrating to learn but has a lot of benefits to offer for players of all levels. In order to get better at golf you need to put the time in on the right areas of the game, which includes especially the short game which contributes to a big part of your overall score. The first step to learning the golf swing is to learn the grip, the primary and most common grip is probably the interlocking grip however some people can use the overlapping and baseball grips also depending on the size of your hands.
Setup tips:
The ball position at setup will vary depending on the club you use. For the wedge the ball should be at the center of your stance and shifts slightly towards the left foot as you use longer clubs until it is lined to your left foot for the driver. You should also tilt your upper body at the hips and keep the spine fairly straight if you can. Your eyes should focus on a spot at the back of the ball until the follow through is about to end which should lift your head up into a full finish.
Your knees should also have a slight flex in them for the setup. Your arms should hang naturally with gravity and there should be a small angle between the club and the arms. Keep the right hand passive throughout the swing as you do not want to use the dominant hand too much as this can lead to poor shots. Begin the backswing by extending the left arm (for right handed golfers) as far as you can comfortably. Keep the left arm straight also as bending it too much will lead to a poor club head path and causes slices and pulls. Focus on the downswing on pulling the club through the hitting zone as this will promote a good swing path and be sure to finish fully with good balance.
