Golf Swing Help For Lower Scoring

Learning the golf swing can be a great challenge but can also be a lot of fun. There are a few fundamental keys to keep in mind in order to learn the swing properly. The first step is to learn the right way to grip the club. There are few different grip types you can consider, they include the interlocking, overlapping and baseball grip types. The interlocking grip is the most common and popular grip type. For right handed players it involves locking the small finger of the right hand with the index finger of the left hand. Most of the grip pressure should come from the left hand and try to keep the right hand passive throughout the swing.

Develop a proper stance:

The right stance can help make hitting the ball straighter a lot easier. You want to make sure that there is a slight bend in the knees when you take your stance. Do not slouch too much when taking your stance but rather bend slightly from the hips.  Your arms should hang down naturally with gravity so they should not be too far from your body or too close to it either. Your tempo is usually dictated by your natural rhythm and movements. Some people like to walk fast and talk fast so their swing tempo will naturally be faster than most. Make sure that your spine is straight and not rounded also. The backswing is also very important and should be done in a controlled manner. The speed of the backswing will vary depending on the person so some people who have faster tempo's will move faster whilst others will move a little slower.

A tip for added power is to hold the top of the backswing position for just a moment and shift your weight first towards the target. This will promote loading the club and will add more power to the swing. Keep the right hand passive during the downswing as trying to use your dominant hand will usually result in casting the club which will cause a bad swing path which then results most of the time in an over the top move which usually results in hitting a weak slice shot. During the downswing focus on pulling the club with the left hand (applies for right handed players and opposite for left handed players) through the hitting zone and to the finish.

Keep your head more or less in the same position throughout the downswing as it started during setup. Your head may move slightly to the right during the backswing but not too much. Do not try to use your muscles to generate power during the swing rather focus on good swing mechanics and making solid contact with the ball. Let your head come up with the momentum of the follow through and do not prematurely raise it to see where the ball is going. Remember also that practice is critical so spend as much time as you can both at home and on the range working on good swing mechanics and in time you will learn to get a better golf swing. Try some of the above golf swing help tips to help you hit the ball more solidly and shoot lower golf scores.
