Golf Fitness Tips
Fitness is no doubt a key component to any game and golf should be no different. There are many ways to stay fit and strong for the game of golf. Proper golf fitness exercises will strengthen your body and allow you to execute the golfing motions with greater ease and power. Here are some tips to keep in mind to help you succeed:
Build Wrist Strength:
Having strong wrists can really help you to get better at the game of golf as it will make swinging the club a lot simpler. Wrist curls are a good way to increase strength in this area, simply take a few dumbells and hold them to your side and the slowly curl your wrists up and then down, you should feel your wrists and forearm muscles working. There are also many other ways to get a good wrist exercise like using barbells in a gym.
Building strong back and shoulder muscles:
Having a strong back is very important to maintain good posture in the golf swing. One good exercise is to take a set of dumb bells and hold them to your side and then raise them up slowly to shoulder height and the slowly lower the weight.
Do frequent weight training exercises:
Weight training is important to strengthen your muscles and make you stronger. Training with weights will help to increase club head speed and distance. Start with little weights that you are comfortable with and slowly increase the weights each week as you get stronger.
Increase Flexibility:
Doing regular and proper stretches are very important in helping you to be a better player and attain more turn in the swing so you can hit the ball further. Be sure to not overdo it and make sure to not cause yourself too much pain during stretches.
Develop greater stamina:
Building more stamina and endurance will no doubt help you play better golf since you will have more energy and focus throughout the round especially towards the end. Consider doing cardio exercises in the gym to build up your stamina like doing a 30 to 45 minute aerobic exercise session.
Most professional golfers today take fitness very seriously and spend time training their bodies both aerobically and through strength training with weights.
